A 33-year-old woman named Chenoa Nickerson from Gilbert, Arizona has been missing since Thursday due to a flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park, as reported by ABC News.
Search and rescue operations are currently in progress to find her after she was swept into Havasu Creek at approximately 1:30 pm local time. The National Park Service (NPS) informed that the flood has left several hikers stranded in the area.
The National Park Service (NPS) issued a press release on Friday, announcing that a rescue flight had been dispatched to assist individuals who were stranded both above and below Beaver Falls.However, one person, identified as Nickerson, remains unaccounted for after being swept into the creek approximately half a mile above its confluence with the Colorado River. The NPS noted that “A rescue flight helped people who were stranded below and above Beaver Falls, though Nickerson remains missing, the NPS said. She was swept into the creek approximately a half mile above the Colorado River confluence and was not wearing a life jacket”.
At the time of her disappearance, Nickerson was reported to be wearing a black tank top, black shorts, and blue hiking boots. The search for her continues as rescue teams work to locate her whereabouts.
