New Delhi: The Central drugs standard control organisation has announced that over 50 drugs are “not of standard quality” (NSQ) and Paracetamol is one of them.

In the latest month drug report, the CDSCO said that paracetamol, calcium and vitamin D3 supplements, anti-diabetes pills, and high blood pressure medicines had failed to qualify the test.

Paracetamol tablets from Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd have also been flagged for quality concerns.

According to the report there were 48 drugs which falls under “not of standard quality.” Surprisingly, a Gauze Roll Non Sterile Roller Bandage has also fall into the category.

The drug regulator shared another lists of drugs that failed quality tests which features additional 5 drugs along with a reply section from the pharmaceutical companies who failed these tests.

However, the responses indicate that the companies denied taking responsibility for the drugs, saying that they are “spurious”.

The CDSCO also posted some manufacturing firms replies, “The actual manufacturer (as per label claim) has informed that the impugned batch of the product has not been manufacturer by them and that it is a spurious drug. The product is purported to be spurious, however, the same is subjected to outcome of investigation.”
