A pan-India film featuring Suriya and directed by Chandoo Mondeti has been in discussion for quite some time.
During the production of Kanguva, reports emerged that Chandoo had narrated an exciting historical subject to Suriya, who was reportedly interested.

Following the success of Karthikeya 2, speculation was strong that this would be Chandoo’s next big project.
However, no updates followed as Suriya got occupied with other commitments, while Chandoo moved on to Thandel.

Now, Chandoo Mondeti has officially confirmed that the film is indeed happening. He revealed that it is a period drama based on events from 300 years ago and that Suriya has already approved the script. Chandoo also stated that he intends to complete this film before moving on to Karthikeya 3.
While the director is keen on moving forward, the project’s fate largely depends on Suriya’s commitment. With Kanguva turning out to be a disaster, Suriya is reportedly hesitant about taking risks and is looking to play it safe with his next projects.

Chandoo Mondeti has never handled a big star or a large-scale project before. His past films were mostly mid-budget ventures, and even Thandel had fairly generic execution without any wow moments.
Given this, the question remains—can he effectively handle a grand historical drama set 300 years ago with a massive budget?
Historical films require strong storytelling, detailed world-building, and high production values to engage audiences.
Chandoo may have a solid script but translating it onto the big screen with the required scale and authenticity is a different challenge altogether.
If this project moves forward, it will be crucial to see how Chandoo approaches the historical setting, action sequences, and emotional depth.
