Chance of NSG Security Removal for Chandrababu Naidu!

Chance of NSG Security Removal for Chandrababu Naidu!

The Indian government has reportedly made a policy decision to phase out the use of National Security Guard (NSG) commandos for VVIP security, shifting the focus of NSG personnel back to their core mission of counter-terrorism and special operations.

This change could result in the removal of NSG security for TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, among other VVIPs. Currently, nine people receive NSG security, including Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Mayawati, LK Advani, Farooq Abdullah, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Out of these, only a few, including Chandrababu Naidu, Adityanath, and Rajnath Singh, remain actively engaged in public political life, which makes them more likely to face security risks.

Last year, Chandrababu’s NSG security was doubled due to a heightened threat assessment. As the only leader from southern India with NSG protection, his security needs have been a priority due to his active political role and public visibility.

However, under the new policy, NSG security would be replaced with CRPF commandos who are trained to an equivalent standard. The shift is part of an overall strategy to reserve SPG security exclusively for the Prime Minister, while others, including senior politicians, will receive CRPF-level protection moving forward. The rationale is to optimize the use of the NSG for special missions rather than VVIP protection duties.
