Cancer affected around 15 lakh Indians in 2023, the five most common types being lung cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and stomach cancer. Cancer rates are expected to increase by 12 per cent by 2025. By 2023, the projected prevalence of lung cancer, which accounts for 6.9 per cent of all new cancer cases in India, and is responsible for 9.3 per cent of all cancer-related deaths, will be 23.3 per cent.
