Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda (2021) was a huge blockbuster in Telugu. It was also released in Hindi in January 2023 and received a decent response. Since the Hindi version was released more than a year after the original Telugu version, it couldn’t make much impact at the box office.
The Hindi audience had already consumed Akhanda on OTT platforms during the COVID period and appreciated it.

The Hindu-related theme resonated well with a section of the audience, and Balakrishna’s performance, coupled with Thaman’s electrifying background score, created quite an impact. Akhanda Hindi did well on the satellite platform as well but not in the league of Pushpa.
Now, Akhanda 2 has been announced and will be released next year on Dussehra. This time, the makers have planned a simultaneous pan-India release in all languages, including Hindi, on a big scale.

Akhanda has penetrated well among the Hindi masses, and Akhanda 2 might turn out to be a big surprise. The Hindi audience loves over-the-top action scenes if backed by an exciting story.
If the emotions resonate well, Boyapati’s mark action episodes can turn out to be a feast for the mass audience. On top of it, there is a strong Lord Shiva angle in the story, which is the icing on the cake.

Many say that Sukumar ventured into Boyapati’s territory in Pushpa 2, and that worked brilliantly for the Hindi audience. Now, if the OG Boyapati himself designs such action episodes, the experience is going to be on another level.
All Boyapati needs is to make an entertaining film that resonates strongly emotionally, with solid action episodes and thumping BGM. However, if there are no emotions and the story is bland, there is a chance that all those over-the-top action scenes might become troll material.
The pan-India business has become completely unpredictable. If well-made, the makers can expect a collection of 60-80 crores net from the Hindi belt for Akhanda 2. The revenue can even go higher depending on the content and reception.
