Caitlin Clark berates WNBA ref over crucial non-call in final seconds of Fever’s loss to Liberty

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was seen berating an official after she turned the ball over in the final seconds of a close game against the defending champion New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon.

Down 90-88 in the dying seconds of the contest, Clark looked to drive to the basket against Liberty guard Natasha Cloud.

On the main broadcast angle, it appeared that Clark got fouled hard as the former Iowa guard flopped her arms into the air.

The horn sounded and Indiana lost the game, leading the star guard to start screaming at the officials for holding their whistle.

Clark was seen yelling ‘Are you f***ing kidding me’ to one official while Cloud dapped up her teammates to celebrate the win.

While many fans may have initially thought that Clark was deserving of two shots at the line to tie the game, the reverse angle showed that Clark may have been trying to sell the contact from Cloud – one of the WNBA‘s top defenders.

On a reverse angle replay, it appeared that Cloud got her arm under Clark’s and then poked the ball away – with the Indiana guard unnecessarily flailing her arms in the air to try and get the call.

Unfortunately for her and the Fever, the call wasn’t made and the score was final.

It was a mixed afternoon for Clark. While she dropped 18 points and ten assists, she also committed a horrendous ten turnovers.

In doing so, she became the first player in WNBA history to commit at least ten turnovers in multiple games.

The Fever were led by another double-double form Aliyah Boston – who dropped 27 points and 13 rebounds while Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull each put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, the reigning WNBA champions were led by Jonquel Jones’ 26 point, 12 rebound double-double as well as 23 points from Sabrina Ionescu. Cloud and Breanna Stewart both chipped in with 16 points.

The Fever next play the Washington Mystics on Wednesday while the Liberty host the expansion Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday.
