Brutal NRI Murder: “Punched, Kicked, & Stamped”

A 50-year-old man, Raj Sidpara, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Tarnjeet Riaz, in Leicester, England.

Raj Sidpara was convicted after a trial at Leicester Crown Court, and he will serve at least 21 years before being considered for parole.

The murder occurred on May 6, when emergency services found Tarnjeet, 44, with severe facial trauma and multiple broken ribs after Raj Sidpara called for help.

Tarnjeet was already dead when they arrived. Raj Sidpara initially claimed he didn’t intend to kill her, but was later found guilty of murder.

The court heard that Raj Sidpara “punched, kicked, and stamped on her” in a sustained and brutal attack. Judge William Harbage described the assault as “savage and merciless.”

Raj Sidpara has a history of violence, with 24 previous convictions for 46 offenses, including threats and harassment. He was also diagnosed with alcohol dependence syndrome.

Detective Inspector Emma Matts emphasized the importance of victims of domestic abuse seeking help before the situation becomes deadly.

The sentencing coincided with Leicestershire Police’s participation in White Ribbon Day, a campaign to end violence against women and girls.
