Brisbane Broncos star playmaker Ezra Mam has allegedly tested positive to a roadside drug test after he was involved in a car crash with an Uber driver on Friday afternoon.

Queensland Police and the NRL Integrity Unit are both investigating the incident that saw Mam taken to hospital as a precaution. Nobody was seriously injured in the incident.

Mam was reportedly moving house at the time of the accident.

News Corp has reported that Mam allegedly tested positive to a roadside drug test but tested negative for alcohol.

Mam will now await the results of a second test, which will determine if he is charged by police for allegedly having an illicit drug in his system at the time of the collision.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Queensland Police for comment.

‘Police are investigating following a two-vehicle traffic crash at Bardon tonight, October 18,’ Queensland Police said in a statement.

‘Initial investigations indicate at approximately 5.20pm, a Ford Ranger utility was travelling north-east along Simpsons Road when it struck a Toyota Camry, travelling in the opposite direction, near the intersection of The Drive.

‘Initial roadside drug testing was conducted on the driver of the utility, a 21-year-old Ipswich man; however, police are awaiting results.

‘No-one was seriously injured, and investigations are continuing.’

The Brisbane Broncos have also issued a statement.

‘Broncos player Ezra Mam has been involved in a road accident this afternoon in Brisbane,’ it said.

‘He has been transported to hospital for treatment but his injuries appear to be minor at this stage.

‘The Broncos have informed the NRL Integrity Unit of the matter. No further comment will be made on the issue at this stage.’

It is the second off-field incident involving Mam in the NRL off-season after the star playmaker and Broncos fullback Reece Walsh were investigated by the NRL over an altercation with fans in Bali.

The pair were holidaying in Indonesia when they were asked for a selfie by a fan in a nightclub.

The phone was damaged in the incident and the players later replaced it.

Walsh and Mam’s manager Nash Dawson told News Corp that the matter had been settled privately.

‘The damaged phone was simply an accident within a heavily populated nightclub in Bali,’ he said.

‘A person’s phone was dropped and damaged, to which that person has asked for the player to pay for the damages and the player has already paid it.’
