'BJP wants to snatch 'Jal, Jameen, Jungle' from tribals,' says Rahul Gandhi at Jharkhand rally

NEW DELHI: In a public address on Friday in Jharkhand, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of working against the rights of tribals and attempting to “destroy the Constitution.”
“‘BJP wants to snatch ‘Jal, Jameen, Jungle’ from tribals,’ said the Congress leader in a rally at Simdega. “”BJP believes in grabbing tribal land under its ‘newly coined word development’,” he further alleged.
He then talked about the life of tribals in the country claiming that BJP does not support them. “There is no participation of Dalits, backward classes and tribals in the country. The people of the Dalit, backward and tribal classes of the country are capable. There is nothing lacking in you. You can do any kind of work, but your path is blocked. When I raised the issue of caste census in Parliament, Narendra Modi became silent. I want 90% of the people of the country to get participation, but BJP wants the country to be run by a few people like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Ambani-Adani,” he said.
Thereafter, he went on attack BJP and said, “Today there is a battle between two ideologies going on in the country. On one side- INDIA alliance; on the other side- BJP and RSS. While the people of INDIA alliance are protecting the Constitution, BJP-RSS want to destroy the Constitution. The Constitution is not just a book. It contains the thoughts of Birsa Munda, Ambedkar, Phule and Mahatma Gandhi. This Constitution protects the tribals, Dalits, backward people and poor people of the country. Therefore INDIA alliance wants the country to be run through the Constitution,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated the INDIA bloc’s commitment to transforming Jharkhand by addressing fundamental needs across communities. He asserted that these seven guarantees—from bolstering food security to fostering local identity and ensuring employment—would lay a robust foundation for sustainable growth in the state. Gandhi emphasised that these initiatives were aimed at not only economic empowerment but also social justice, with particular attention to local customs and the welfare of marginalised communities. The INDIA bloc, he stated, is dedicated to creating a Jharkhand where every individual, especially women, youth, and farmers, can thrive with dignity and equal opportunity.
