YSR Congress Party has been losing steam in Andhra politics ever since it lost the general elections a few months ago. Many of its leaders have been switching to the ruling parties TDP, JSP and BJP.
Even in a major city like Vijayawada, YCP is losing its strength. With each passing day, YCP is weakening in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

In the last municipal elections, YCP won 49 seats. With one TDP MLA switching to YCP, its strength reached 50. Even after being in power for five years, YCP did nothing for the development of Vijayawada.
Many YCP corporators openly cited the same reason and started shifting to other parties. As of now, three corporators have defected to TDP and more are expected to follow the same route.

Upon the orders of YCP’s high command, Mayor Bhagyalakshmi, former MLAs Vellampall Srinivas, Malladi Vishnu and Vijayawada East’s party in-charge Devineni Avinash have been trying hard to save the rest of the corporators.
As a part of these efforts, they held a secret meeting at a hotel in Vijayawada. However, 11 corporators skipped this meeting, raising more speculations.

According to the reports, four of these 11 corporators are planning to switch to other parties. Three of them may defect to Janasena and one may switch to BJP.
These four along with the three who have already joined TDP, a total of seven corporators are interestingly from the Vijayawada West constituency.
According to recent rumours, YCP might also lose all 11 corporators who missed the meeting in the near future.
