Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services on the Purple and Green Lines to cater to New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31.
The last trains will depart from all terminal stations at 2 a.m. on January 1, 2025, while the final train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda metro station (Majestic) will leave at 2.40 a.m. To accommodate the festive rush, trains will operate at 10-minute intervals from 11 p.m. on December 31 until the extended service ends, according to BMRCL release.
In a bid to manage the large crowds expected on M.G. Road, BMRCL has decided to close the M.G. Road metro station for entry and exit from 11 p.m. on December 31. Passengers are advised to use the nearby Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations instead. Those travelling after 11 p.m. can purchase a ₹50 return journey paper ticket, which will be available at all metro stations starting at 8:00 a.m. on December 31. Regular QR code tickets and metro cards will also remain valid for travel.
BMRCL has issued a boarding advisory to prevent overcrowding at specific stations. Commuters heading towards Whitefield and Silk Institute are encouraged to use Trinity Metro Station, while those travelling towards Challaghatta and Madavara should board from Cubbon Park metro station.
