Prabhas scored his first universal hit since Baahubali with ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. According to trade experts, the film grossed almost 970 crores worldwide, though the producer’s figure claims over 1000 crores.
Despite being an average film with a dull first half and an engaging second half with a good finale, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ performed exceptionally well in most areas, except Andhra Pradesh.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a blockbuster in the US and a super hit in the Hindi market. However, Prabhas missed two major milestones in these areas by a whisker.
In North America, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ earned around $18 million before its run ended. At one point, it seemed like it might cross the $20 million mark, which would have made it only the second Indian film to do so after ‘Baahubali 2,’ which holds the record with $20.5 million.

Although ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ came close, it didn’t quite reach this milestone. However, Prabhas now holds the record for the top two Indian movies in North America.
In North India, the film collected around 275 crore net, making it a major success in the Hindi market. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ (Hindi) is now the top-grossing South Indian film dubbed in Hindi that is not a sequel, as it has surpassed 276 crore net and is expected to finish around 280 crore net.

This seemed impossible after the first week due to the drop in mass circuit contributions and the trend not being as strong as ‘RRR’.
Previously, ‘RRR’ was the highest-grossing non-sequel South Indian film with around 275 crore net, but ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has now surpassed that.
The bigger South Indian films like ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ and ‘KGF 2’ were sequels, which have a significant advantage due to their established fanbases.
However, the film’s theatrical run in India is nearing its end, and it seems unlikely to reach the 300 crore mark.
Thus, Prabhas misses two significant milestones with this movie.
The strong performance of the film has undoubtedly set up its sequel to potentially achieve even greater success, as the first part recorded the highest numbers ever for a debut dubbed South Indian film. The total all-India collections across all formats will finish a little over 600 crore net.
