Bollywood seems to be running like a paradox. On one hand, people are complaining that good movies are not being made and there is a dearth of originality in the industry. And on the other hand, a wonderful movie like ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ goes completely unnoticed.
People are talking about ‘Naadaniyan’ all over social media, trolling and criticising it and nobody seems to be interested in an original movie backed by the likes of Reema Kagti, Varun Grover and Zoya Akhtar, that is just released in theaters a few days back.

Superboys Of Malegaon is highly appreciated by critics and audiences (the small number that went to watch it) and people are comparing it to Laapata Ladies. But Laapata Ladies actually made it big in numbers while Superboys is still struggling.
The reason behind the underwhelming performance of Superboys can be the preoccupation of people with Naadaniyan. Everyone is talking about it and everyone is saying how bad it is and in the heap of posts, Superboys of Malegaon is getting lost somewhere.

It is through social media that word of mouth usually spreads and social media is full of Naadaniyan this and Naadaniyan that now.
There is a recent trend of re-releases of old movies and people are learning to appreciate many ‘underrated’ gems that did not see success at the time of their actual release. It is strange that Superboys Of Malegaon is probably going to be in the category of these movies too, in a time when the audience claims to be more ‘appreciating of talent’.
