Baby John Flops, Alia Bhatt Next?

Baby John Flops, Alia Bhatt Next?

Christmas has not gone so well for Bollywood for the last six years. Things were expected to change with Baby John but the results have not been so good.

The problems started back in 2018 with Zero, which was a flop. Except in 2020 when there was a lockdown, the other films released on Christmas so far, including Dabangg 3, 83, and Cirkus, could not leave an impact at the box office.

It seems like the curse has continued as Baby John has made similar records. The opening numbers are not up to the mark with collections of almost Rs. 11 crores, which was not expected specifically because the film was releasing on Christmas.

The collection was supposed to pick up but unfortunately, it witnessed a big drop on Day 2, recording Rs. 4 crores. The film was already receiving a mixed response, bringing more disinterest among the audience to watch the film.

It’s the third day now and the total collection does not even sum up to Rs. 16 crores. Atlee has undoubtedly failed to hit the bull’s eye this time.

Considering the overall situation of the film, it seems like it is going to be a tough job for Baby John to cross the mark of Rs. 50 crores. The budget is reported to be Rs. 180 crores, which means that recovery is impossible.

South cinema has left many examples for Bollywood but the producers are not willing to understand at all. The Hindi film industry does not need remakes when it has a reputation for bringing unique concepts and stories over the years.

Now considering that Christmas has always brought good collections for Bollywood films, there is still a possibility that the old days might come back.

Alpha is arriving at the same time next year. The action-drama will be the first installment of the YRF Spy Universe to feature only females as the leads, including Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. It remains to be seen if the Christmas curse will discontinue with the arrival of this film.
