Baba Siddique murder: Fourth accused identified; provided support to shooters, says police

NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Police on Sunday identified a fourth accused in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique who was shot multiple times on Saturday before succumbing to his injuries.
Identified as Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, the police said that he was providing support to the shooters.
Akhtar, along with the third accused Shivkumar Gautam, is absconding.
Gautam and Dharamraj Kashayap, who was arrested a day before, belong to the same Gandara village in UP with no criminal background.
“Shiv Kumar had gone to Maharashtra a few years ago to work as a labourer and had invited Dharmaraj to join him,” Kaiserganj Circle Officer (CO) Anil Kumar Singh said as quoted by PTI.
Meanwhile, the two accused who have been arrested in the case so far were produced before the court on Sunday. The prosecutors told the court that 28 live cartridges were recovered from the accused, adding that they might be associated with some international gang.
The police has sought 14-day judicial custody of the two. The court has sent Gurmail Singh in police custody till October 21.
Further, it ordered age-determination test for Dharamraj Kashayap after there were disagreements over his age in the court. Kashayap told the court that he was 17. The prosecutors, however, noted that his Aadhaar card showed that his age was 19.
