The Australian Open continues with British No 1 Jack Draper in action against Argentina’s Mariono Navone in the opening round. The 23-year-old is determined to build on last season’s impressive run to the US Open semi-finals in the opening grand slam of the season.
Later, Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley faces the returning Nick Kyrgios while Novak Djokovic plays his first match under the guidance of coach Andy Murray in Melbourne.
Kyrgios has not played at his home grand slam in three years due to injury and faces rising star Fearnley, who rocketed up the rankings last season to qualify for the Australian Open for the first time.
All eyes have been on Djokovic’s new partnership with Murray, as the 37-year-old begins his bid for a record 25th grand slam title against the American wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy.
Earlier, there were wins for Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek, but Stefanos Tsitsipas is out and there was an emotional victory for Jodie Burrage. Follow all the latest action from Melbourne Park below:
Australian Open: Jack Draper 4-6 6-3 3-6 6-3 3-1 Mariono Navone*
A HUGE hold from Jack Draper, including a brilliant forehand winner onto the line to save a second break point against a resurgent Mariono Navone. The 23-year-old rallies from 15-40 down, winning four points in a row, to keep ahead in the fifth.

Australian Open: Novak Djokovic underway
One of those mornings at a grand slam where everything is happening all at once!
Over on Rod Laver Arena, Novak Djokovic begins his quest for a 25th grand slam title, with coach Andy Murray in his corner.
The 37-year-old is taking on American teenager and wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy. What a day for the 19-year-old.

Australian Open: *Jacob Fearnley 0-1 Nick Kyrgios
Some clear signs of rust on the Kyrgios serve, which has not lost its power, as the Australian makes a couple of double faults on his opening game.
He gets away with it, though, taking the hold and then putting some pressure on Fearnley but taking the first two points of the Scot’s service game.

Australian Open: *Jack Draper 4-6 6-3 3-6 6-3 2-1 Mariono Navone
Jack Draper raises his right fist as he breaks first in the decider! Incredible defensive in the backhand corner from the 23-year-old, and he gets his reward and Navone coughs up a soft drop shot into the net.
Just keep that serve ticking, and he’ll be fine. Meanwhile, Navone has called the trainer onto court and is receiving some treatment on his leg.

Australian Open: Jacob Fearnley vs Nick Kyrgios
Jacob Fearnley on the unique challenge of facing Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open: “It’s not a match you want to see in Australia. I know that the crowd’s going to be against me. Obviously there was a lot of excitement, as well, (about the draw) because it’s not a common match.
“I’ve been to some pretty hostile environments. Probably not as many people as are going to be watching on Monday. I’ve definitely had some nasty things thrown in my direction. You just have to ignore it and move on.
“I think the best thing I can do is just try to enjoy it as best as I can. Obviously focusing on myself is one thing. I understand that’s going to be very difficult to do. It’s still pretty early in my career. To have an opportunity and an experience like this is really cool.”

Who is Jacob Fearnley? Britain’s rising star facing Nick Kyrgios at Australian Open
Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley makes his Australian Open debut and expects to face a hostile atmosphere when he takes on Nick Kyrgios.
The 23-year-old Scot shot up the rankings after turning professional last season, breaking into the world’s top 100 to qualify for the Melbourne grand slam.
He was drawn to face the returning Kyrgios in the opening round and the controversial Australian has been scheduled to play in his usual raucous late slot on John Cain Arena.
Kyrgios has not played at the Australian Open since 2022 due to injury while Fearnley has made an astonishing ascent since taking a set off Novak Djokovic in the second round of last year’s Wimbledon.

Australian Open: SET! *Jack Draper 4-6 6-3 3-6 6-3 Mariono Navone
Draper fights on! He starts with an ace and gets a couple of cheap points as gifts from Navone, especially on set point. The Argentine, who looked so composed early in the fourth, fires a wild forehand long.
Draper looks relieved, perhaps even a bit tired. It was hardly the pumped-up reaction many would expect. But he’s hanging on, and will head off to change his kit before the fifth set begins.

Australian Open: *Jack Draper 4-6 6-3 3-6 5-3 Mariono Navone
BREAK! On 0-15, Navone blinks and Draper senses his chance. The Argentine puts a short ball into the net on his backhand and on the second break point slices long on his backhand.
Navone swats away a ball in frustration. He hasn’t done much wrong, but one game gives Draper the chance to serve for the fourth set.
