Apple’s .8B Panic Move in India

Apple has pulled off a massive airlift to avoid the unreal tariffs from Trump. The tech giant has transported five full planes of iPhones worth $1.8 billion from India, showing how far it’s willing to go to sidestep the crushing 125% tax on Chinese imports.

India has become Apple’s lifeline in this trade war, offering a way to keep prices stable in the US. While China remains the manufacturing hub for Apple, the tariffs have forced the company to rethink its strategy.

While India has also seen a surge, now standing at 26% tariff, it is by far the best alternative for Apple. Media reports suggest Apple even fast-tracked the airlift, pushing Indian authorities to cut customs clearance time at Chennai airport from a staggering 30 hours to just 6.

Since March, Apple has flown over six cargo jets filled with a total of 1.5 million iPhones, with each jet carrying 100 tons of product. This quick-response strategy shows just how crucial India is becoming to the disrupted global supply chain.
