A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the family of Rupak Reddy Padini, a 25-year-old student from Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh.

Rupak Reddy, who was pursuing his MS at Harrisburg University in Pennsylvania, drowned in George Lake, USA, while taking photographs. He had been in the US for just eight months, chasing dreams far from home.

On August 27, Rupak and his friends visited Lamb Shanty Bay in Hague, New York, for a boating trip. In a devastating turn of events, a wave knocked Rupak from a shallow part of the lake into a steep drop-off. Despite wearing a life jacket, he slipped out of it and was pulled underwater.

The Hague and North Queensbury volunteer fire departments used sonar to find him within minutes, but he was discovered too late, just 100 feet from shore in 25 feet of water.
