AP High Court Acts Against Social Media Filth & Deepfakes

Andhra Pradesh High Court seems to have taken a serious view on the filth on social media.

The court has been reacting seriously to the cases related to YSR Congress Social Media these days. On Friday, it made another comment indicating that it will no longer take these issues lightly.

“There is a need to curb the indecent posts coming through social media platforms. Just because the law allows for the free expression of opinions, it is not allowed to post indecent posts that damage the reputation of individuals. Photos are being morphed so that it is impossible to identify what is real and what is fake,” the court said.

The Court suggested that the police should also pay attention to deepfake photos.

Have any instructions been given to social media companies to prevent obscene and objectionable posts and to remove those that have already been posted? – the court directed the police to place the details of the steps taken before the court.

The Honorable Court commented that there is no doubt that the petitioners have crossed the limits in posting indecent posts.

Former YSRCP social media in-charge Sajjala Bhargava Reddy, Sirigireddy Arjun Reddy, and YSRCP sympathizers sought anticipatory bail in cases registered against them for posting the morphed pictures of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, several ministers, and their families members on social media platforms.

The court refused to give any immediate orders and posted the matter to the 27th of this month.

Social Media has become a toxic place in the last five years with YSR Congress investing big in assassinating the characters of the Opponent.

YSR Congress’s Social Media is very much organized with a payment system in place. The Opponents could not match.

Several cases have been registered in the new government. Earlier the Courts used to be lenient in these cases in the name of Freedom of Speech, but this time, the High Court is handling it differently.

In fact, the High Court is also a victim of the YSR Congress Social Media.

YSR Congress would target the High Court Judges whenever verdicts go against their Government then. The High Court registered a case and even got some YSR Congress Activists arrested. YSR Congress saved them by getting them bail.

Many of them were out on bail and are back on their usual business. We will have to see if the social media can be cleaned.
