Director Anurag Kashyap recently shared his frustration and disappointment over multiple of his projects getting shelved.

His frustration was mostly aimed at the shelving of the planned series Maximum City, based on Suketu Mehta’s book of the same name.
The three-part-nine-hour series was intended as a deep exploration into Mumbai’s gritty underbelly.

Unfortunately, it got shelved as the OTT platform took a U-turn due to the ‘Tandav’ controversy just 6 days before the scheduled pre-production.
The sudden cancellation of projects by OTT platforms denotes a gradual shifting trend in the Indian streaming industry to not hurt any political sentiments.

Anurag Kashyap revealed that the shelving of the project took a heavy emotional toll on him, due to his deep investment in the characters and narratives.
Anurag further said that rather than letting this setback hold him back, he channelled his frustration into the neo-noir film ‘Kennedy’, including adaptations from ‘Uss Raat Achanak’, a 2003 script he had written for Sudhir Mishra.
