Anurag Kashyap is back in the news and how! The filmmaker has recently taken a jibe at Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

Not only that but Anurag also went on to call him ‘the definition of dumb’ after the latter downplayed Sacred Games, India’s first Netflix original.
Given that the series was co-directed by Anurag Kashyap, it was obvious for him to react to the same.

In a podcast with Nikhil Kamath, Ted suggested that launching Netflix India with a gritty, complex series like Sacred Games may have been a misstep. He also hinted that a safer, soap-opera-style show might have been a smarter entry.
Anurag, never one to mince words, didn’t hold back. He clapped back at Ted’s statement on Instagram and said: “He should have started with Saas-Bahu. I always knew tech guys are dumb when it comes to storytelling but Ted Sarandos is the definition of dumb is what I didn’t know.”

The comment has set off a fiery debate in the entertainment world. While some back Ted’s strategic hindsight, many fans and critics have rushed to support Kashyap, crediting Sacred Games for putting Netflix India on the map.
The real question: Is Netflix India able to hold on to its roots? Not sure! Let’s take the example of the latest release, The Royals, starring Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar.
What was all about showing hot boys with horses and ladies putting on some fancy outfits is about to have its second season soon!
It seems like Ted’s words won’t be wrong after some time if Netflix India isn’t able to get back on its feet.
