Gadar 2 was a superhit film on big screens that cashed in big for the makers. Anil Sharma got some buzz as the director but many doubted his directorial strength.
This was mainly because the film clicked with the fans only based on the nostalgia and recall factor. Bringing back Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel from the cult classic Gadar was the wisest decision.

But Anil’s real test will be Vanvaas, as it has no star appeal or backing of a hit franchise. And it seems that he has failed already!
Starring Nana Patekar as an old man with dementia who is trying to navigate his relationship with his son, this film is set to release on 20 December. Many haven’t even heard about its release yet.

The marketing and film’s overall narrative appeal is very low. Where Gadar 2 opened at 40 crore rupees, Vanvaas might not even make 1 crore.
From over a 500 crore collection, Anil will drop to a less than 10 crore average. Anil Sharma is the director of a bygone era and doesn’t fit to the new demands, Gadar 2 was a lucky incident which might not repeat again.
