A day after asserting his position as PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, heading the organising committee for the Chithirai full moon Vanniyar conference to be held on May 11, oversaw the preparations for the same in Mamallapuram on Sunday.
He told journalists, the intent of the conference, being held after 12 years, was to push for caste census and protect the 69% reservations in jobs and education in Tamil Nadu.
“Backward classes should be given representation based on their population. Northern Tamil Nadu has fallen behind in terms of education, economy and human development indices. However, in terms of TASMAC sales, northern districts are leading. Therefore, northern districts should be taken on a path towards development,” he said.
Dr. Anbumani added he wished for a peaceful conduct of the conference.
Regarding the spat with his father and PMK founder S. Ramadossm, he said it was an ‘internal matter’ of the party and said would be resolved internally.
PMK’s office bearers including spokesperson, K. Balu accompanied him.
