Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala and co-produced by Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt is massively struggling at the box office. The film has barely managed to recover its production cost of ₹90 Cr. by selling the digital and satellite rights.
Director Vasan Bala has come forward to take the whole responsibility for the film’s failure, acknowledging the tough times.

He said that he feels guilty for letting the producers down, even though they have been nothing short of supportive towards him. He further asserted that one has to be ready for such risks while directing such a mainstream project.
Taking full responsibility for the failure, Vasan Bala further emphasized the need to be receptive towards feedback and constructive criticism.

Bala also acknowledged the added scrutiny one faces while working with a mainstream actor like Alia Bhatt. He said that he is optimistic about future opportunities, hoping that the lessons learned from Jigra will work to his benefit the next time.
While ‘Jigra’ was made with a budget of ₹90 Cr., it only managed to collect ₹22.45 Cr. from its first week, according to trade reports. Reports also claim that the film was able to recover its production costs by selling its digital and satellite rights.
