Akshay’s Sky Force: Masterstroke Or Blunder

Akshay’s Sky Force: Masterstroke Or Blunder

Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force is all set to arrive in theatres this Friday after a long wait. It features Veer Pahariya opposite Akshay and the latest update is that the film has been cleared by the CBFC.

The film has received a rating of UA 13+ without any cuts and the runtime has been finalized as 125 minutes. Considering that the movie is not too long, it is expected that it will be a complete entertainer with a mixture of action, comedy, and some emotional moments.

Long runtime has always been a problem for different films where audiences complain about the film getting stretched beyond a certain point.

But there have been films with lengthy runtimes such as Pushpa 2: The Rule, where makers have focused on world building and character development. Those films have also worked at the box office.

Now the runtime of Sky Force could lead to different results. There is a possibility that scenes might start and end abruptly, making no sense at all. On the positive side, the screenplay could be gripping without any boring moments, making it an entertaining watch.

Furthermore, it features a patriotic theme, and considering that it is getting released before Republic Day, it should attract a large number of audiences.

Apart from that, it is arriving around five months after Khel Khel Mein, which was Akshay’s last film. This can also be a good sign since Akshay has been frequently advised to maintain a gap between his films if he wants his career to get back to its old position.

But a few complications still exist. The theme of Sky Force is similar to Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, which was released last year and the former’s trailer also features a few shots that resemble the ones seen in Fighter.

On the other hand, the main premise is set on the India-Pakistan conflict and audiences are tired of watching the same thing repeatedly on the screen. It’s high time that the writers opt to explore other themes instead of this one.

The advance booking is yet to be opened for the film and that will decide the fate of the film. Things are expected to go fine if the collections rise with positive word-of-mouth. However, the result will be the same as Akshay’s previous films if audiences completely reject the film on the first day.
