Akshay Kumar once hailed as a blockbuster machine, has now become synonymous with colossal flops. After the pandemic hit, he’s delivered a staggering 14 disasters, transforming from a minimum guarantee star into the “king of disasters.”
According to critics, Akshay Kumar’s downfall stems from his reckless approach to filmmaking. They argue that he’s been signing films indiscriminately, merely for massive 100-crore paychecks, while showing no real commitment to his roles.

His lackluster performances and half-hearted efforts have contributed to his failure. Furthermore, his political affiliations and disregard for his fans’ expectations have only worsened his situation, leading to his unreal downfall.
One analyst brutally stated, “Akshay is flooding the market with so many films that audiences are sick of him. His constant presence has become a nauseating overexposure. Even decent films are struggling to make an impact. The nonstop promotions and pointless ads make people want to avoid him altogether.”

Another critic hammered home the point: “Akshay Kumar needs to disappear. His overexposure is killing his career. The endless stream of movies and his frequent media appearances have stripped him of any respect. His recent films are crashing and burning, and he needs to vanish for a year, or he’ll continue to be a laughing stock.”
Akshay Kumar’s string of disasters includes films like Bell Bottom, Laxmmi, Cuttputtli, Atrangi Re, Bachchan Paanday, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Selfiee, Mission Ranigunj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, and now Khel Khel Mein.

Among these, Sarfira, Mission Ranigunj, and Khel Khel Mein were actually decent movies that didn’t deserve such monumental failures. Yet, trade experts say audiences are so fed up with Akshay Kumar that they wouldn’t even bother watching his films for free.
The combined losses from these disasters have surpassed an astonishing 1000 crores. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alone racked up a loss of 250 crores, while Samrat Prithviraj’s creators faced losses of around 150 crores. Khel Khel Mein would also rake in a minimum loss of 50 crores, according to trade pundits.
While other stars are striving to make films that earn 1000 crores at the box office, Akshay Kumar has set a record for the worst possible reason—delivering a streak of films that have collectively lost over 1000 crores.
Next year he has some promising sequels like Jolly LLB 3 and Housefull 5 which can turn the tide for him.
