In a recent interview Akshay Kumar has shared his thoughts on why movies are not working out that well in theaters anymore. He says after the pandemic people are more inclined towards watching movies on OTT and they know the movies will stream on OTT a few days after the release.

But this does not make much sense and netizens have differed with the statement as well. There have been many blockbuster movies after the pandemic and even a small budget film like Stree 2 has become highly successful.
On the other hand, Akshay’s movies have been doing bad business even before the pandemic. He comes with movies like Bachchan Pandey and Selfiee that cannot pull the audiences and his performances are bland too.

He finishes off movies in 30 or 40 days and even in anticipated movies like ‘Prithviraj’ there is no visible passion or dedication at all. Akshay Kumar has remade multiple South Indian movies in the last few years and the reason behind his movies nor working is not OTT at all.
His ‘Sarfira’ was a remake of the movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’. Soorarai Pottru had premiered on OTT and it had a wonderful viewership on OTT but Sarfira failed on both the theaters and OTT.

He says, “I meet many who tell me that they will watch the movie when it comes on OTT. So that is the biggest reason. That is what the whole thing is. Let’s not beat around the bush. It’s a fact. Things have changed after Covid.”
A superstar like Akshay Kumar must not fear OTT but embrace it and make necessary changes in his script choices too to adapt to the new times. The mechanical performances will not take him anywhere now and he cannot blame OTT for his failure every time too.
