Sky Force was supposed to mark a big comeback for Akshay Kumar this year after a series of flops. The overall response to the film hinted that it might emerge as a blockbuster. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Sky Force is finally ending its theatrical run and Chhaava will arrive on the big screen this Friday. The closing collection is reported to be around Rs. 145 crores worldwide gross with Rs. 130 crores accumulated in India. This means that it is eventually a flop and it is once again a warning for Akshay to start being careful.

It is surprising to see such numbers for a film that was produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films. The latter has already created an amazing track record last year with the success of Munjya and Stree 2.
Furthermore, the tickets were available at a discounted price of almost Rs. 20 on the first weekend and the makers additionally provided other offers so that Sky Force could work at the box office.

But now it looks like the film’s lifetime collections would be only Rs. 80 crores, bringing another lowest-grossing film in the list of Akshay Kumar.
The closing collections are also shocking specifically since it came around five months after Khel Khel Mein, which featured Akshay as one of the leads and was also a commercial failure.

Sky Force also featured a similar theme to Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter due to which a section of the audience failed to connect with the film. Although the box office number is better compared to Akshay’s last few films, it has still failed to bring huge crowds to the big screen.
If Akshay is interested in bouncing back, he should now focus on two or three scripts, work on them for a few years, and then release a film. However, in between all these, he needs to avoid making guest appearances so that it does not lead to any overexposure.
