Air India has just taken a significant step in enhancing the flying experience by becoming the first Indian airline to provide in-flight W-Fi on domestic flights.
Just think about being able to work, stream, or browse the internet at 35,000 feet while heading to your next destination. This service is available on select Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking a major advancement for frequent flyers.

While this is a huge win for domestic travelers, one has to wonder: Air India does it for domestic, but why about much-needed international giants like Lufthansa, British Airways, and others have caught on yet? For international travelers, in-flight Wi-Fi is still seen as a pricey extra rather than a standard feature.
This stands in stark contrast to Air India’s new initiative when Wi-Fi will become more common and affordable service in the skies. Given the high ticket prices for international flights, it’s surprising that basic amenities like Wi-Fi aren’t included in the fare especially since it’s becoming essential for many travelers.

Currently, Wi-Fi on international flights often comes with a hefty price tag, varying by airline, route, and flight duration. Passengers frequently experience disconnection and frustration, particularly when they compare this to domestic airlines that have already made Wi-Fi a standard offering.
The challenge now lies with international carriers to keep pace with the changes initiated by Air India, which is proving that it’s feasible to provide Wi-Fi access to passengers without the steep costs.

For now, passengers traveling within India can enjoy seamless, complimentary connectivity, while those flying internationally may have to wait a bit longer to enjoy the same level of ease in their global travels.
