Mudassar Aziz brought us his directorial venture that brings a spectacular star cast. It revolves around a risky game that reveals secrets of various relationships. The funny take of the narrative aimed to entertain audiences. But even stars like Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal, Ammy Virk and others couldn’t save the film. It faced major box office failure in its contest with Stree 2 and Vedaa.

Fardeen Khan who made a comeback to the big screens after 14 years also portrayed an impactful role in the film. His character dealt with social taboo and intended to open discussions around the topic. But after its international release on 15 August, it has come to notice that UAE has cut some scenes of Fardeen Khan as they don’t find it complying to their code of conduct. Mudassar Aziz presented his views as he was deeply disheartened by this move of UAE theatres. He stated that the representation of Fardeen’s character was important for the society at large. Even fardeen took to social media and stated he stands by what his role portrayed in a very dignified manner and he condemned the cut.
A film’s success and failure are a different thing, but cutting the scenes that are pivotal to opening the public’s eye to social taboos is deeply disheartening for the makers. A lot of thought goes behind making a film and often in such norm defying characters many people find a reflection of themselves. We could only hope that there is more acceptance in the coming years in countries like UAE!
