After a brief break, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) is back in action. The team has started demolishing illegal encroachments in the Kukatpally area this morning.
According to the reports, HYDRA started demolishing illegal constructions built on the 7 acres in the Full-Tank Level (FTL) and Buffer Zone of Nalla Cheruvu Lake in Kukatpally.

Around 50 apartments and other buildings were constructed on 4 acres. In 3 acres of the FTL, 25 buildings and 16 sheds were erected. Leaving the residential constructions, the HYDRA team has been demolishing 16 sheds in the region.
As the demolition is underway, tight police security has been deployed around the Nalla Cheruvu Lake.

Apart from Kukatpally, HYDRA is also carrying out demolitions in Sangareddy district’s Ameenpur Lake and Krishnareddypet. HYDRA officials focused on the encroachments in the Sangareddy district.
They reviewed the illegal constructions in Patelguda, Ilapur, and Shabunikunta near Beeramguda. Right after reviewing yesterday, officials started demolitions today, leaving the encroachers terrified.

Recently, the Telangana government gave HYDRA the same powers as other departments like Irrigation, Revenue, Police, and Urban Development. HYDRA can now take action against people illegally occupying government land and water bodies within the limits of Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road.
