Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Aviation Training becomes first DGCA-approved training organisation outside of India

NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Aviation Training (EAT) as the first “approved training organisation” (ATO) abroad. In a social media post, EAT said: “We’re thrilled to announce that DGCA India has officially approved EAT as the first ATO outside of India! This covers our full flight simulators for the A320, A350, B777, and B787.”
The approval was handed over by DGCA chief Faiz Ahmed Kidwai to EAT CEO Captain Paolo La Cava. A team of senior EAT officials comprising EAT head of training Captain Stefan Dudda had met Kidwai and DGCA chief flight operations inspector Captain Shweta Singh.
“This milestone strengthens our partnership with Indian airline customers, allowing us to better serve their training needs and deliver world class aviation programmes. It highlights our commitment to professionalism, high standards, and dedication, further enhancing our training capabilities and ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our global partners,” it added.
“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the entire DGCA team and our partners for their exceptional support. As we continue expanding our capabilities, we look forward to welcoming more pilots for training and further strengthening our global presence,” EAT social media post said.
Indian carriers like IndiGo send their cadet pilots to EAT, and many other training organisations, for type rating.
