ABN RK’s Amateurish Analysis About The Film Industry

No one is a jack of all trades. ABN Radhakrishna maybe an expert in Political Commentary but then when it comes to films, he is a novice.

This week‘s Weekend Comment by RK is about Allu Arjun’s Arrest and the subsequent meeting of Revanth Reddy with Industry people.

Firstly, RK says People have a negative feeling about star heroes doing a film for three years and collecting 300 Crore remuneration. We do not know what people think but RK seems to be of that opinion.

If People do not have a bad opinion about leaders who amass One Lakh Crore misusing the Public office, they should not be having a bad opinion about heroes who work hard to earn that 300 Crore. RK should watch the recent Documentary of RRR and know it is not as easy for heroes as they think it is.

Also RK lectures about Heroes doing negative roles. It should be noted here, such hero characterisations are not anything new. Amitabh Bachchan did films like Deewar, Don etc in those days and in Telugu, we have films like Gaja Donga, Manchi Donga, Bhale Donga, Goonda, Rowdy etc in Telugu.

RK is saying as if films with negative characterizations are something new.

RK is advising the industry to make films like how Malayalam industry do. This advice is just like asking Political Parties to do cash-less Politics. It is something good to hear and say but very difficult to do.

Commercial cinema is oxygen to the industry. If Telugu Cinema is only into such films, it will be a small industry like the Malayalam industry. And the support or non-support of the Governments do not matter.

Such films are also coming in Telugu but their number is small not because of anything but due to the Demand Vs Supply problem.

Governments should see Cinema as another industry. Why should the Governments regulate the prices of Cinema while even the prices of the life-saving drugs are not regulated? Why are benefit shows wrong when the Governments themselves are into the business of selling cigarettes and alcohol?

People like RK should not draw conclusions like “Political Stars are bigger than Superstars”. Instead they should advise the Political Stars not to get involved into the Cinema Industry matters.

In the past, there are no instances of Chief Ministers dictating or troubling the industry like how it is with Jagan and Revanth Reddy.

During Jai Andhra movement, Jalagam Vengalarao and Marri Chenna Reddy were instrumental in bringing the industry from Chennai to Hyderabad. NT Ramarao and Chandrababu Naidu did so much for the industry to flourish in Hyderabad.

YS Rajashekhara Reddy abolished the Slab System. But none of them tried to dictate terms or harass the industry people into doing something. Instead of cheering the Government’s dominance or harassment, people like RK should ask the Governments to leave industry alone.

Chandrababu Naidu was one of the favorite Chief Ministers to the industry. Whenever anyone speaks about him, they speak very high about him. Naidu did not show anyone his strength to take about him like that. Why should these leaders be different?
