Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, was finally released in theaters yesterday and has received disastrous responses from audiences and critics.

Despite the flat screenplay and weak narration, many viewers criticized A.R. Rahman for his poor background score in the film.

Even though Thug Life’s songs have received positive responses, some people stated that A.R. Rahman’s songs are merely average and that some of his fans are overhyping them.

However, the Kollywood audience believed that A.R. Rahman would deliver top-notch background scores in the movie, but the background scores in Thug Life disappointed them.

Many viewers, after watching Thug Life, have stated that even though A.R. Rahman typically doesn’t use loud, mass sounds like Anirudh Ravichander, he usually maintains his unique style and delivers something excellent and internationally appealing. But, Thug Life’s background scores are very weak, poorly placed in many parts, and have been abruptly cut in some sections.

A.R. Rahman previously faced severe criticism for his background score in the Bollywood movie Chhaava. It was expected that he would prove his worth in Thug Life, but the film ended up as a huge disappointment.
