Coronavirus Live Updates: Covid Drills Begin Across India, Delhi Teachers On Airport Duty

India Covid Live: The country also saw two new virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours.

Nationwide drills are being held today to check how prepared the hospitals are to tackle any spike in Covid cases. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya oversaw the drill at the Safdarjung Hospital this morning. The exercise will be led by health ministers of the states concerned.

Meanwhile, government school teachers in Delhi have been deployed on Covid duty at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) during the winter vacation.

Covid Live: BF.7 Variant Shows Low Virulence, Says Karnataka Health Minister
Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar today said the BF.7 variant of COVID-19 is transmissible with low virulence, but emphasised that senior citizens, children and pregnant women must remain cautious. He said Covid response mock drills to check readiness to deal with any increase in the number of coronavirus cases are in place in all districts and talukas across the state.

Covid Live: Telangana Reports 400% Rise In Vaccinations In 72 Hours
Amid reports of a rise in Covid cases in China and elsewhere, and a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on following protocols and being prepared, Telangana has recorded a 400% increase in vaccinations over the last 72 hours. The state has also reported the highest booster dose coverage in the country at 48 per cent.

Covid Live: India Reports 157 New Cases, No Deaths In 24 Hours
India recorded a single-day rise of 157 new COVID-19 cases, while the count of active cases of the disease has marginally decreased to 3,421, according to Union Health Ministry data updated today. The Covid tally in the country has now gone up to 4.46 crore. The death count due to the disease stands at 5,30,696 with one being reconciled by Kerala.

Covid Live: 59% Of Those Eligible Yet To Get Booster Dose In Odisha, Says Official
About 59 per cent of the eligible people are yet to receive the booster dose of the coronavirus vaccines in Odisha and the state government has urged the Centre to supply the shots to expedite vaccination drive, an official said. The Odisha government is also planning to hold next year’s state board examinations for classes 10 and 12 adhering to the Covid guidelines. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to hold a review meeting of the state’s coronavirus situation today.

Covid Live: Manish Sisodia To Oversee Covid Drill At Delhi’s LNJP Hospital – Report
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be present at the state-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in the city during the mock drill to ascertain Covid preparedness of the facility, official sources told PTI. A mock drill is being held across all Delhi government hospitals today following a direction from the Centre, amid a surge in coronavirus cases triggered by the BF.7 variant in some foreign nations. The sources said that during the mock drill at LNJP, Mr Sisodia, who also holds the health portfolio, will be present at the medical facility.

Covid Live Updates: 1 New Case In Maharashtra’s Thane, Active Tally At 11
One new COVID-19 case has been reported in Maharashtra’s Thane district, taking its infection count to 7,47,394, a health official said on Tuesday. The new case was recorded on Monday, he said. There are currently 11 active COVID-19 cases in the district, which comes under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said. No death was reported on Monday and the fatality count remained unchanged at 11,967.
