New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, has mounted a veiled attack on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for allegedly forcing Kashmiri Hindu employees to attend offices even at the cost of security threats by militants in the valley.

Few days before J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has threatened the employees with ‘no work, no salary’.

“I with all seriousness wants that the issue should be addressed. I personally believe that nothing is more important than a life. I would say that if there is a threat to even one life, even a dozen offices could be shut,” Dr Jitendra Singh told press on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Manoj Sinha warned protesting employees from minority community and Kashmiri Hindus to resume work at their respective places of posting in Kashmir or else be ready to lose their salaries.

“We provided salaries to employees till August this year after they asked for a cooling period following their departure from Kashmir to Jammu. The government can not pay salaries if teh employees are sitting at home and not joining work,” Manoj Sinha was quoted as saying during a press conference in Jammu.

Sinha also said that he is in touch with protesting employees and heard their genuine demands. “We have ensured that all Kashmiri Pandit employees are transferred to the district headquarters. Only those in the Rural Development Department are working in villages of Kashmir as they cannot be shifted to city areas,” a report in Tribune quoted Sinha as saying.

Dozens of employees from minority community serving in Kashmir have demanded relocation to Jammu in view of continuous targeted killings in the valley.
