    Top 10 Midsize SUVs Sep 2023


    In the list of top 10 midsize SUVs in September 2023, Hyundai Creta headed the charts ahead of Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

    In the month of September 2023, Hyundai’s Creta continued its supremacy at the top of the midsize SUV sales charts as 12,717 units were posted against 12,866 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative sales growth of 1 per cent. The heavily updated Creta will be introduced in India in early 2024 and it may help solidify its dominance.

    The 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift will feature a host of updates inside and out and it will be powered by a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine producing 160 PS and 253 Nm. The Mahindra Scorpio finished in the second position as the combined sales of Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic led to a total of 11,846 units as against 9,536 units in September 2022.

    This resulted in a YoY positive volume increase of 24 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara slotted in at third with a domestic total of 11,736 units as against 4,769 units during the same period twelve months ago with a YoY surge of 146 per cent. Since debut, the Grand Vitara has been posting consistent volumes.

    The recently facelifted Kia Seltos registered a domestic tally of 10,558 units as against 11,000 units in September 2022 with a YoY sales drop of 4 per cent. The Mahindra XUV700 garnered a total of 8,555 units last month as against 6,063 units during the corresponding period last year with a YoY positive volume increase of 41 per cent.

    In the second half of the table, Honda Elevate posted a total of 5,685 units while the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder recorded a total of 3,804 units to finish in the seventh position. It has a lot in common with the Grand Vitara and both SUVs are manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka.

    The Skoda Kushaq finished in the eighth position with 2,260 units against 2,224 units with a YoY growth of 2 per cent. The Volkswagen Taigun recorded 1,586 units against 1,994 units with a YoY decline of 20 per cent. The MG Astor rounded out the top ten with 901 units and the new entrant Citroen C3 Aircross posted 400 units.
