WATCH: Jos Buttler Asks Babar Azam to Translate as Rohit’s Answer to Journalist Leaves Everyone in Splits

The Captain’s Day event in Ahmedabad on Wednesday saw all 10 skippers coming together at one stage, speaking about the ICC World Cup 2023. The moderators – former India head coach Ravi Shastri & former England captain Eoin Morgan – questioned each one of them about their teams’ preparedness and their approach to winning the coveted cup. The discussion was followed by a media interaction. While most of the questions were asked to Rohit Sharma, one query left the Indian captain awkwardly speechless.

One of the journalists recalled the thrilling finale of the last edition, in 2019 at Lord’s, when the game between England and New Zealand headed to Super Over that also ended in a tie and England were declared champions on the basis of boundary-countback.

The journalist further said both teams could have been declared winners and thus, asked what does the Indian captain think about that.

Rohit was visibly confused as he gestured towards Shastri, saying, “Kya sawal hai ye (what question is this?).”

The Indian’s skipper’s expression left everyone in the room in splits. Rohit too had a laugh and said, “Ye mera kaam nahi hai sir. Ghoshit karna mera kaam nahi hai sir (It’s not my job sir).”

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, who was part of that nail-biting final four years ago, was seemingly asking Babar Azam to translate the conversation between Rohit and the journalist.

India will start their World Cup campaign against five-time champions Australia at Chennai on October 8. Rohit emphasized the right execution of skills against them.
