The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) responded to investigate a shooting incident at Morgan State University on Tuesday night. The BPD and medics were asked to come to 1700 block of East Cold Spring Lane after 9 PM local time.
At least four people were shot on the campus of Morgan State University, police confirmed according to The Baltimore Banner. The shooting was reported to have occurred in the 1700 block of Argonne Drive, the address of a student dormitory and adjacent to the Northeastern District police station.
“BPD is on scene of an active shooter situation in the 1700 block of Argonne Drive. We’re asking everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area,” Baltimore Police tweeted.
Several social media users tweeted about police presence at the campus. “Major police activity happening at Morgan State University. A chopper head is urging people to shelter in place. Officers want people to back up because someone is “still shooting”, an X (formerly Twitter) user said.
“Helicopter with spotlight near an active shooter situation at Morgan State University in Baltimore,” another one added with a visual.
“BREAKING: Baltimore Police confirm they are responding to an ‘active shooter situation’ at Morgan State University; everyone asked to avoid the area,” a third person tweeted.
Police are reportedly looking for suspects in the campus. However, we do not have any more information.
The Morgan State University in its notice said that “an active investigation is currently underway related to a report of shots being fired on or near campus”.
“Please stay clear of the area surrounding Thurgood Marshall Hall and the Murphy Fine Arts Center and shelter in place.”
