MUMBAI: Mumbai recorded 1,360 dengue in September, an increase of over 300 from August. There were 353 dengue cases in June and 413 in July. Malaria cases rose from 1,080 in August to 1,313 in September; June and July saw 676 and 721 cases, respectively.
Most other monsoon-related ailments saw a decline. Ravi Raja, former opposition leader in BMC, said over 900 mosquito breeding spots are being detected daily. BMC officials said last month’s intermittent rain was to blame for the rise. tnn
