Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently on a juggernaut with his magnum opus Jawan, will next be seen in Rajkumar Hirani‘s Dunki, which is reportedly based on the issue of illegal Indian immigrants in US/Canada.

Earlier, there were reports that both SRKand Rajkumar Hirani are in talks to postpone the film since it makes no sense to bring a third Shah Rukh Khan film in the same year. However, at a Jawan event last night, SRK put all speculations to rest and said that Dunki will release by end of the year.

He quoted, ” God has been very kind we have hadPathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan and I always say this. We started on January 26, Republic Day (with Pathaan), it’s a good auspicious day. On Janmashtami, on Krishnajis birthday we released this film (Jawan).”
He further opened up on his ‘National Integration’ scheme and said, “Now New Year and Christmas are around the corner, we will release Dunki. I keep National integration. Anyway, when my film is released, it is Eid.” He further added, “I’m working hard, I’m working harder than I worked in the last 29 years. I will keep working hard because now I’m the happiest when people get happy after watching the film.”
Earlier, the actor had opened up on the same and said that Dunki will be a film high on comedy as well as drama, following the usual path of a Rajkumar Hirani film. He also added that it will be a film based on the country.
While talking to Deadline at a recent film festival, the actor opened up on the unique name of the movie and said that in English it would be called ‘Donkey’, but the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India–the Punjabis– it is ‘dunki’. He added that it is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers in the country, Rajkumar Hirani, and written by a fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi.

He further said that it is a story of people who want to come back home when they finally get the calling. He added that it is a big journey film, that goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home, to India.
