G20 Summit 2023 LIVE Updates: The G20 Summit is all set to kick off in the next few hours as leaders have started arriving in Delhi on Friday. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Argentine President Alberto Fernández, and IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva are among the top leaders who arrived in the national capital on Friday morning for the G20 summit. US President Joe Bid. .en, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and other delegates will also arrive at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport today. As per the advanced advisories issued by the Delhi Police, traffic measures have come into place from today (8 September) in various areas in Delhi while the New Delhi district will be strictly closed for the general public and tourists for the next three days (8 to 10 September), only emergency services will be allowed. Besides, Delhi is adorned with murals, statutes, fountains, and plants in the street, and a giant statue of Nataraja has been installed in front of the venue of the Bharat Mandapam, the venue of G20 Summit located at Pragati Maidan.

G20 Summit LIVE: International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Financial Stability Board (FSB) made a strong case for a coordinated global policy action to deal with risks associated with cryptocurrencies while suggesting that these assets should not be granted official currency or legal tender status ahead of the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
“Official means of payment should be limited to public currencies issued by the state. Crypto-assets pose fundamental risks and should not be considered as ‘currency’, as they do not fulfil the three basic conditions thereof (unit of account, means of exchange and store of value).
“Due to the risks and concerns about destabilising impacts on the international monetary system (IMS), central banks should also avoid holding crypto-assets in their official reserve assets,” it said.

In its G20 document, the World Bank has emphasized on the role of digital public infrastructure in helping nations to leapfrog digital transformation. As per PTI, the document praised India’s approach in unlocking the potential of digital pubic infrastructure like Aadhaar and UPI, for financial inclusion.
“The India stack exemplifies this approach, combining digital ID, interoperable payments, a digital credentials ledger, and account aggregation. In just six years, it has achieved a remarkable 80 per cent financial inclusion rate—a feat that would have taken nearly five decades without a DPI approach,” it said.

PM Modi said India’s presidency should be inclusive, decisive, ambitious and action-oriented. We’ve lived up to his vision of being inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and very decisive during our presidency.
Second key priority for us was to have accelerated sustainable development goals because only 12 of the 169 SDGs are on track and we are way behind the schedule. We are midway at the 2030 Action Point. But we are way behind. Therefore accelerating SDGs, improving learning outcomes, healthy outcomes, nutrition – all these were very critical for India’s presidency.
“The New Delhi leaders’ declaration that you will see post the Summit, you will see it as a Voice of Global South and the developing countries. No document in the world would have such a strong voice for the Global South and the developing countries…,” Amitabh Kant said.

Ahead of G20 delegates’ visit to the Mahatma Gandhi memorial in central Delhi’s Rajghat, the Delhi Police have reached out to civic authorities for assistance in tackling the issue of monkey and dog presence in the vicinity. This move includes a request for these agencies to collaborate with snake catchers.
The relevant agency has been tasked with deploying personnel to apprehend monkeys and dogs during the delegates’ stay at Rajghat. Given the proximity of a nearby jungle, they have also been urged to enlist the services of snake catchers, as stated by a senior police official.
