Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit out at the central government for allegedly framing “frivolous charges” against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case.

By India Today Web Desk: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed its chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case on Saturday. While the ED named Sameer Mahendru and four other entities as accused, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was “not categorized or named as an accused” in the case. The ED submitted before the judge that a detailed probe regarding the accused was ‘still proceeding’.
Reacting to the development, AAP hit out at the central government for allegedly framing “frivolous charges” against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister. The condemnation holds relevance as Sisodia has been embroiled in the Delhi excise policy case and he was also summoned by the the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) where he was questioned for over nine hours. His properties were also raided by the probe agency for over 14 hours.

Amounting to relief for Sisodia, he is not named as an accused in the present ED chargesheet.
Sisodia shared it was a matter of “great pride” for him that his name skipped a mention.
“It is a matter of great pride for me that even after all their conspiracies and false FIRs, they are not able to make any allegations against me. My name is not there on the chargesheet prepared by a team of 800 officers after raiding 500 places. The charge sheet of CBI and ED proved that there was no liquor scam,” he said.
Taking note of the development, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “Shouldn’t Modi apologise to the country for implicating Manish Ji, who brought laurels to India in the world through the education revolution, in a false case? Will the country progress by putting those who do good work in jail?”
CBI FILES CHARGESHEET IN DELHI EXCISE POLICY CASE
On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case. In an official press release dated November 25, the CBI named seven accused in the case at hand. The CBI filed the chargesheet against the accused, including two officials of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and five persons were named in relation to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy.
