Jasprit Bumrah won the hearts of cricket fans across the nation with a heartwarming gesture for Rinku Singh following the 2nd T20I between India and Ireland at the Malahide Sports Club in Dublin. Bumrah rushed to Rinku’s aid in the presentation ceremony after the end of the game and showcased to the world that he is a leader by his actions.

After playing his maiden innings in international cricket, Rinku made an immediate impact and was named the player of the match. Rinku showed why he is regarded as a long-term finisher for the Indian white-ball team with a quick-fire knock of 38 in 21 balls that included two boundaries and three sixes.

Rinku’s blitz helped India post a massive score of 185 on the board and eventually complete a 33-run victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a half-century for India, while Sanju Samson played an impactful 40 in just 26 balls too.

After Rinku received the POTM award, he made it clear that he would be comfortable only talking in Hindi. At this point, Bumrah decided to step up and turn translator for his young teammate and presenter, Alan Wilkins. The duo also shared a light moment as Bumrah asked Rinku, “Captain ki baat sunta hai (Do you listen to your captain?),” after Wilkins asked a question on whether he listens to the captain or goes at his own pace. “I listen to the captain (smiles),” Rinku replied.

Rinku credited his instant success in international cricket to 10 years of hard work and revealed that he had confidence in himself to do well at this stage after his IPL heroics.

“I am feeling very good. I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL. I was very confident and tried to stay calm. The hard work that I have done, has been working hard for 10 years. The hard work that I did gets paid off with such contributions. The first game I batted, I get the Player of the Match, and it could not get any happier,” said Rinku.

Bumrah’s captaincy skills are evidently being noticed in India, and there remains a strong chance of him being named vice captain for the Asia Cup and World Cup.
