An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The encounter started in Larrow- Parigam area.
“Encounter has started in Larrow- Parigam area of Pulwama. Police & Security Forces are on the job. Details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police shared the information on X (formally Twitter).
This comes two weeks after a terrorist was killed in an encounter in the Rajouri district. Based on intelligence input, a joint operation by the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police was launched on August 5.
A day before the August 5 operation was launched, three Army personnel were killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the higher reaches of the Halan forest area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir following inputs about the presence of militants there, a police official had said.
Police said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired at the security forces, who retaliated. In the exchange of fire, three security forces personnel were injured. The three Army personnel succumbed to their injuries during treatment
