which 5G phone to buy under Rs 12,000?


With 5G services finally rolling out, consumers are now looking towards 5G capable devices to make use of the newer and faster internet speeds. However, unlike the time 4G rolled around, consumers won’t have to wait for 5G phones to become affordable. Many new affordable smartphones already offer 5G services. This neatly brings us to the POCO M4 Pro 5G and the Infinix Hot 20 5G. Both these devices start under Rs 12,999, making them some of the most affordable 5G phones in India. But what about the rest? Well, let’s compare these two devices and see how they fare on paper.

Infinix Hot 20 5G vs POCO M4 Pro 5G: price in India, availability

The newer Infinix Hot 20 5G is only available in a single variant in India and is priced at Rs 11,999. This variant offers 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone went on sale on December 9th and is available via Flipkart.

The POCO M4 Pro 5G was launched earlier this year. As such, the price of the phone has dropped a bit since its launch. The phone currently starts at Rs 11,999 for the base variant that offers 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is also a middle variant that offers 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and that is priced at Rs 13,999. Finally, there is the top variant that offers 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and is priced at Rs 15,999 for the top variant.

Infinix Hot 20 5G vs POCO M4 Pro 5G: specifications, features

Display

The Infinix Hot 20 5G packs a reasonably large 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2408p. It should also be noted that the phone offers a very impressive refresh rate of 120Hz, with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. This should make gamers quite happy as both these features positively impact gaming.

On the other hand, The POCO M4 Pro 5G offers a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS display, with a similar 1080 x 2400p resolution. However, it offers a slower, refresh rate of 90Hz. But this is then offset by the higher 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Processor

Both these smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor. This octa-core processor is based on the 6nm process and packs two 2.4GHz Cortex A76 performance cores and six 2.0GHz Cortex A55 efficiency cores. The processor also packs a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. All this together should ensure plenty of performance for mobile gamers.

Camera

Both devices also offer dual-rear cameras. The Infinix Hot 20 5G packs a 50MP primary camera and a QVGA secondary camera. At the front is an 8MP selfie camera that is housed inside a waterdrop notch.

The POCO M4 Pro 5G also packs a 50MP primary unit. However, the secondary camera is an 8MP ultrawide unit. At the front is a 16MP unit that is packed inside a punch-hole cutout.

Battery

The Infinix Hot 20 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery that is said to last an entire day with gaming, streaming, and other tasks. The phone also supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C charging.

The POCO M4 Pro 5G also packs a 5000mAh battery. However, what really makes it stand out is the fact that it supports 33W fast charging. POCO notes that this allows the phone to fully charge in under 60 minutes.

Connectivity and software

Both these smartphones support 5G, which is a key feature for these devices. The Infinix Hot 20 5G comes with Android 12 pre-loaded. It should be noted that the phone only supports GPS positioning.

On the other hand, POCO M4 Pro 5G supports three positioning systems, namely GPS, Glonass, and Beidou. This should allow for more accurate positioning. In terms of Android, the phone comes with Android 11 pre-loaded, but users can update it to Android 12.
