Trouble mounted for the Aam Aadmi Party which got the recognition of a national party after the Gujarat Election results as five of its MLAs were speculated to join the BJP. AAP MLA Bhupat Bhayani on Sunday dismissed the rumours that he joined the BJP and said he is with the Aam Aadmi Party and has not thought about joining the BJP. But he said he will talk to his supporters and voters and take an appropriate decision about the future course of action which he did not elaborate on. Bhayani clarified that there is no issue with the AAP but he joined the party this year only after being in the BJP for 25 years. “It was under Modi’s leadership that we all have prospered and one cannot deny that,” he said.
“I am still proud of our PM,” Bhayani added.
Chaitar Vasava, Hemant Khava, Umesh Makawana, Sudhir Vaghani and Bhupat Bhayani are the 5 MLAs who won in Gujarat on AAP tickets. Three of them left BJP to join the AAP.
With the conclusion of three hard-fought election battles in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi municipality, trading of MLAs is in news. Three Congress members including two councillors of Delhi municipality joined the AAP and then made a prompt Ghar Wapsi.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Mukesh Agnihotri took the oath as the chief minister and the deputy chief minister in Himachal Pradesh where the Congress returned to power after one term. In Gujarat where BJP recorded a landslide victory Bhupendra Patel will take oath on Monday along with 20 other cabinet ministers.
Independent MLAs and BJP rebels Mavji Desai, Dharmendrasinh Vaghela and Dhavalsinh Zala held a meeting on Sunday to decide their future course of action. All three of them were with the BJP but contested as Independents after they were denied BJP tickers. Vaghela said he has already extended his support to the BJP because he was with the party since the beginning of his political career. The other two did not make any statement.
