Former Australia player Ricky Ponting feels the International Cricket Council will fine or suspend Shubman Gill for his social media post on third umpire’s decision against him.
Gill was declared out by Richard Kettleborough during India’s second innings in the World Test Championship final against Australia.
Cameron Green took his catch with one hand but the on-field umpires refused to declare him out as they were not sure. The task was given to the third official, who ruled the decision in Australia’s favour.
Former India players and fans slammed the umpire for his call. Even Gill took a dig at Richard Kettleborough and posted a picture with clapping emojis.
And now Ponting has reacted to Gill’s post.
“There will be some sort of fine or maybe even a suspension. That’s a direct crack at the umpire for the decision that he made. You cannot do that,” said Ricky Ponting.
