By India Today Sports Desk: India pacer Mohammed Shami has said that India can 100 per cent win the final of the World Test Championship by chasing down 280 runs on the final day of the Test match. India are 164 for the loss of three wickets after the conclusion of the fourth day of the Test match with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in the crease. Shami, speaking at the press conference after the end of the day’s play said that the task is not a difficult one for India.

“100 per cent everyone believes that tomorrow we will win the match. Because we have always fought. We perform well around the world. Not here only. So, we believe and we always come together to win this match,” Shami said at the press conference.

The pacer argued that the total of 280 runs was not a big total against the Australian bowling attack and that India could do it if they took it ball by ball.

“According to me, if you bat well, 280 runs – is not a big score. So, according to me, you should bat normally as a Test match. You should focus on playing ball by ball. You should not look at the long target. So, according to me, chances of success are higher there. When you keep small goals and targets, you will get more success. So, according to me, you should play normally,” Shami concluded.

India were handed a target for 444 runs at The Oval. The Rohit Sharma side were jolted by three wickets before scoring 100 runs, but a recovery act from Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli have put them right in the mix of things. While the task is still going to be daunting and as per Ravi Shastri, “stranger things have happened in world cricket.”
